Dustin wanted to do everything he could for this girl, she was literally the sweetest and most innocent person he knew. And the fact that someone hurt her like this for so long made him stick to his stomach. He felt so bad that he hadn’t figured this all out sooner. But he was glad he could put an end to it at least temporarily. Dustin laid his son who was asleep in his car seat on the floor as he went into the bathroom to wash his face off. The soap stung a little, but this wasn’t a cut Dustin would be ashamed of. He got it doing something that would make a difference. Dustin looked down at his son, tears ran down his cheeks as he wiped his face off with a hand towel.
Dustin slowly bent down and undid the buckle on DJ’s car seat and picked him up slowly. The little boy was beginning to wake up. “Daddy, why cry?” he mumbled as he rubbed his eyes. “Daddy just loves you so much. And You make him happy just like Mommy does” rubbing his sons back he made his way into his room where DJ and himself had been sleeping for the last week. It was kind of nice having his son around, but he really wished Kat had been around more so. He missed her as much as their son, and he loved her more than anything that’s why when they fought, it hurt so much.
Dustin smiled at the sight of the small children in the room with Sweatpea laying on the bed. “Hey” he said with a small smile as he sat down next to her. DJ had fallen back to sleep and Dustin figured he was too young to understand or care even if he had been awake. “Talk to me pea” he said softly. He smiled softly, through the pain he was feeling there was far too much happiness surrounding him to notice the pain anymore.
Looking down at her fingers, Sweetpea clenched her teeth; causing her cheeks to flex in an attempt to keep the tears from rolling down her face. She already felt weak as hell - and by her crying wasn’t going to make that opinion any less true. Leaning back on the pile of pillows behind her, she took a deep breath. Where was she to start with all this? The overdose? What caused the overdose? Or what started the addiction in the first place?
"Where to start…" She mumbled to herself as she looked at the ceiling. Taking a deep breath, Pea bit her bottom lip; nibbling on it slightly before rolling over to face Dustin. "What do you wanna know first? Where it all started? How it all started? The ad-. I’m rambling and the sight of you like this makes me wonder what the hell happened over there. And don’t tell me that you got into a random accident because you don’t turn blue and purple from something like that." Her eyes settled, almost turning pouty.
"Just please tell me. Y-you promised to never lie to me. And you’re like my brother. Just don’t lie to me and I’ll tell you everything. Everything from beginning to end." She lifted her hand and placed it on the side of his face, gliding gently over a bruise.
N-no…I would never bully anyone. Especially Meow…
Sweetpea dug through the suitcase of things that Kat had left for her on the front porch of her house. Although Pea was grateful, she was still a bit on edge with the whole situation. With all the help she was getting, she still felt helpless in the long run. Putting on her pajamas, she listened to the heightened giggles coming from the opposite room which is where her foster siblings Brynn, Walter, and Evelyn would be staying. She walked over to the mirror, looking at her reflection. The past few days in the hospital had not done her skin much justice but, she was finally happy to be out of there and in a place where she felt welcomed and loved - Dustin’s house.
Walking our of the room, she went to the one next to hers where she was immediately greeted by Brynn who was happily sucking her thumb. Evie and Walter sat on the floor watching TV for the first time in months basically due to the fact the house had no cable. She felt as Brynn’s body clinged to her lower half. “Okay, I’ll watch TV with you guys.” She laughed happily before heading over to the king sized bed. It must have been Dustin’s - this after all looked a bit too much like his taste. Brynn climbed up with her, settling in between her legs. Knowing the consequences were to come, she was nothing more than happy that the three of them were out of that hell hole. Stroking the light brown locks of her youngest sibling, Sweets held her close until a figure holding a tinier figure walked into the room.
"Baby!" exclaimed Brie before sticking her thumb back in her mouth. Sweetpea couldn’t do much but giggle smile at Dustin and DJ. There was something about the sight that warmed her heart. "Thank you." Pea muttered so it was audible to him - before she felt him place himself next to her. The children were too engaged in the television to even care about the exchange of words going on. "Hey, Evie? Why don’t you take them downstairs to watch TV while me and Uncle Dusty talk yeah?" Evie nodded in agreement while Brynn clung to her. "No I wanna stay with mama." The youngest one managed to make audible with her thumb still lodged in her mouth. "Don’t worry hun, I’ll join you." Brynn then got if the bed, her long tan curly locks swaying behind her as she followed the rest of them. "Now, I can tell you everything and you need to tell me what went on over there." Her eyes pierced at his bruised face.
O-Oh my gosh. Sweets you’re awake!
Huh? Oh..y-you scared me..
Come on Sweets lets make the best of this okay?
Can we just go? I’m tired, hungry, and…I wanna tell you everything.
Let me know when you’re ready to go home okay?
Yeah…okay. I’m ready. I’ve been here for days and I’m ready to go. I get to leave in a wheelchair which is always fun.
How are you feeling, are you ok?
My head hurts a bit, but I’m alright.
@babysweetpea: I’ve grown attached to these three like honey on peas.
